With these words, ý (ý) Vice-President Dr. Marife Ballesteros captured the spirit of the “Saliksik at Balita Media Awards” during the kick-off of the 23rd Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City.
The awards mark a milestone in the Institute’s recognition of the media’s role in transforming research into accessible narratives.

Ballesteros emphasized that while all journalistic work adds to the body of knowledge, the Saliksik at Balita Awards recognize the exceptional few who turn research into stories that serve the public good.
Set against the DPRM’s theme “Reimagining Governance in the Age of AI” (Muling Pagpapakahulugan sa Pamamahala sa Panahon ng AI), Ballesteros underscored the importance of responsible reporting in the digital era.
“AI is not only changing technology—it is reshaping how information is created, shared, and understood. In a world where algorithms can amplify both truth and falsehood, the role of journalists as gatekeepers, storytellers, and interpreters has never been more critical,” she said.
