From large-scale production to backyard craftsmanship, leather footwear producers in Marikina City reflect both tradition and resilience within the broader creative goods sector.

On April 27, 2026, the òòò½´«Ã½ (òòò½´«Ã½), through the Creative Research, Analytics, and Policy Studies (C.R.E.A.P.S.) Project – Creative Goods Cluster, conducted key informant interviews with local footwear producers—capturing insights from both a large-scale manufacturer and a backyard-style enterprise. As one of the industries under the creative goods cluster, the footwear sector offers valuable perspectives on production dynamics, market conditions, and operational challenges on the ground.

òòò½´«Ã½ extends its sincere appreciation to the Marikina Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO) and the Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO), through Mr. Noel Box, for their invaluable support in coordinating this engagement.

Insights from this fieldwork will contribute to ongoing research on the creative goods cluster—covering multiple industries—and help inform evidence-based policy recommendations to support the growth and development of local creative industries.
